Mozart dead in his own Requiem or modern classical music sucks!

Image
(Português abaixo) We have just returned from the Jubiläums Konzert at the Friendenskirche (Church of Friendship) located inside the Sanssouci Palace complex, in Potsdam. The concert was advertised as containing Mozart's Requiem and Bach's cantata Ein' Feste Burg Ist Unser Gott (A Mighty Fortress Is Our God), two very nice pieces. It also mention a piece by Haas entitled Sieben Klangräume (Seven Sound Spaces). I did not checked who Haas was so I was unaware of what to expect, but I thought that someone between Mozart and Bach must be good, how wrong. In reality, this Seven Sound Spaces are seven pieces of modern avant-guarde (usually synonym of "piece of crap") intertwined with Mozart's Requiem. So, between Dies Irae and Tuba Mirum the orchestra played five minutes of traffic jam noise ; before Rex Tremendae the choir made sounds like people being possessed by voodoo spirits ; before Recordare a few instruments spent several minutes imitating the sound o

Churchill and the Berlin Jewish Memorial (and also sees a Trabant)

Image
Churchill did not miss the opportunity to visit the Berlin Jewish Memorial, also known as the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. It consists of a large area near the Brundenburg Gate covered with 2,711 concrete slabs arranged in a grid pattern. An attached underground has the names of approximately 3 million Jewish Holocaust victims. Churchill is really annoyed that even today there are those who deny the Holocaust. Churchill also saw a psychedelic Trabant nearby. The Trabant was the car produced in the former East Germany and it was a very popular car as it was basically the only alternative (the other was the Wartburg) . East Germans would have to wait between 10 and 15 years to get a car. Russians would wait that same amount of time waiting for the plumber. - - - - Churchill não perdeu a oportunidade de visitar o Memorial aos Judeu, em Berlim, também conhecido como o Memorial dos Judeus Assassinados da Europa. Consiste em uma grande área perto do Portão de Brundenbu

Churchill visited Hitler's bunker

Image
This is a very little known fact in History, but it did happen. After visiting Brandenburg Gate, in Berlin, Churchill headed to the location of Hitler's bunker. It was a rainy day in Berlin, so he had to find refuge against the heavy rain on his way. That delayed him a bit but not enough to prevent Churchill to arrive at its intended destination. Churchill is indeed very tough and of of strong personality. He arrived at the bunker location along with the sunshine.
