Finally. At the city of Charlemagne, the great emperor of the 9th century. I will write more about Charlemagne in the next post. Here, I will share a few pictures taken during our visit to the Aachen Dom Cathedral and to the museum Centre Charlemagne. (tons of photos below) Finalmente. (uma tonelada de fotos abaixo) The Throne of Charlemagne, inside Aachen Cathedral. To see it, we had to register into a guided tour in German as the throne can only be visited with the company of a guide. We learned that during the Second World War, the throne was covered by plaster and brick to avoid it being damaged by bombs or bullets. O trono de Carlos Magno, dentro da Catedral de Aachen. We took Polski Bus again to travel from Wrocław to Prague. Our previous experience (travelling from Berlin to Wrocław ) was not that smooth. That time, the driver was a very rude uni-lingual person who could only speak Polish (and not that well according to other passengers). He was rude with us because of our luggage, even though I had paid to carry extra ones. Any way, from Wrocław to Prague everything went smooth and we had a nice trip, in spite of the on board wireless erratic performance.
(português abaixo) On our way back to Vienna from Hallstatt we stopped at the famous Cafe Zauner, in the city of Bad Ischil. This city is a spa town (the German word bad means bath). In the 19th century Bad Ischl became a fashionable spa resort with notable guests. In 1849 Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria chose the town for his summer residence. Years later (1853) the engagement between Franz Joseph and Elisabeth of Bavaria (Sisi) took place in Bad Ischl. Cafe Zauner is famous for its Austrian cakes.
