GRUAN Meeting in Potsdam - visit to Lindenberg meteorological station

I participated in the 10th Implementation and Coordination Meeting of the GRUAN (Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) Reference Upper-Air Network), in Potsdam, Germany, 23 to 27 April 2018. It included a site visit to German Meteorological Service (DWD) core station in Lindenberg, near Berlin. The video shows the lauching of a weather balloon. More on GRUAN https://www.gruan.org/.

I had the pleasant surprise to met Dr. June Wang. I had not seen June for many years, I believe since the 2011 IUGG Scientific Assembly in Melbourne, when she was a key-note speaker in the Symposium I was convening.

Coffee break included the palmier, the delicious pastry that I learned to enjoy when I was a child spending summer vacations in Nova Friburgo, the city in mountains near Rio where my mother was born.
